NU Gives Back…is Back!
Volunteers prepare materials for activities with Rimland clients.
Northwestern University students returned to Rimland on Saturday, May 16 for the fifth annual NU Gives Back, a student-run, campus-wide day of service for Northwestern students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Student volunteers at our Developmental Training Center painted the guest bathrooms, set up a new recycling center, organized the storage room next to the snack shop, and helped create worksheets, activities, and picture exchange communication system (PECS) cards for clients. This is the third year that students have selected Rimland as a site for NU Gives Back. Last year, students helped turn over the gardens at the residences, clearing out the leaves and weeds in preparation for spring planting. Two years ago, they worked with clients on art projects. Many thanks to the wonderful student volunteers who return to Rimland year after year!
