“Dedicate some of your life to others. Your dedication will not be a sacrifice. It will be an exhilarating experience because it is an intense effort applied toward a meaningful end.” – Dr. Thomas Dooley
Due to the nature of our environment, we have a limited, specific set of volunteer opportunities where we welcome engagement. For more information about any of our opportunities, please reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator.
Please note all volunteers must pass a full criminal background check and to be a volunteer mentor that full Direct Support Professional training is mandatory.
Music Class
Do you play an instrument? Is your voice a harmonic dream? Our residents simply l-o-v-e their music afternoons! While we have one, incredibly dedicated volunteer who comes weekly to our Community Day Services, our residents welcome the chance to move and groove more often. Please email us with a brief note about yourself, the instrument you play, and your schedule.
Art Program
Are you arts-focused? Know the ins-and-outs of crafting and interested in hosting a one-time class or ongoing program? Mentor the individuals we support such as by running a onetime or ongoing art program.
Gardening
Our residents thrive from tilling the soil, learning about growing plants. Do you know how to build raised bed gardens? Have access to materials and gardening knowledge? Have connections to organic seed companies? We would love to install vegetable and sensory gardens at each of our residential homes – particularly vegetable.
Other Opportunities
– Prepare and serve lunches in our Community Day Services kitchen
– Help to grocery shop and deliver food to our group residences
– Take the individuals on outings in the community or join the individuals for lunch at our Community Day Services.
Professional Skills
We are moving quickly with our hands-on home renovations and are always in need of trained, professional tradesmen/women to lend their expertise. Our immediate-need list includes maintenance, construction, and technology professionals.
Fundraising Committee
With ongoing budget cuts at the State and Federal levels, Rimland, like many non-profit organizations, is consistently seeking funding. Do you have grant writing skills? Would you like to host a dinner in your home? Are you connected to businesses that might be able to assist in our expansion and residential home renovation? If you’d like to contribute to our continued success, yet might not have enough time to join our Board, please consider joining our Fundraising Committee. Should you be interested, please contact Carolyn Keel, Executive Director, with your ideas.
